Morocco's 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar was one of the greatest stories in football history. They defeated Belgium (world's 2nd ranked team), Spain (on penalties), and Portugal to become the first African — and first Arab — nation to reach a World Cup semifinal. They finished fourth. Their Atlas Lions were built on an unbeatable defensive unit (they conceded just one own goal in the whole tournament), incredible team spirit, and a passionate connection to their fans. Before 2022, Morocco had appeared at six World Cups since 1970 without advancing beyond the group stage since 1986 when they became the first African team to top a World Cup group. Now they arrive in 2026 as genuine contenders — no one will underestimate them.
