Saudi Arabia
π World Cup Story
Saudi Arabia's World Cup history began in 1994 in the USA β a debut they celebrated by reaching the round of 16. That first tournament featured Saeed Al-Owairan's stunning solo goal against Belgium β one of the greatest World Cup goals ever scored, a 60-yard run past five defenders. They appeared in 1998 and 2002 but lost their way in the 2010s. Their return to the world stage was 2018, then 2022 in Qatar β where they produced the biggest result of the 2022 tournament: defeating Argentina 2-1 from 1-0 down at half-time, as Messi and company missed chance after chance. The dressing room celebrations were broadcast worldwide, and Saudi national holiday was declared. The Green Falcons now aim to show that result was not a fluke.
π 2026 Context
Famous for stunning Argentina in 2022 β the Green Falcons have appeared at six World Cups with solid knockout round pedigree.
